What is the ideal age for a facelift?

As I tell all my patients, age is just a number. I have done facelift surgery on patients in their late 20s, and have seen patients in their 80s who do not need a facelift.

Instead of asking the question ´what is the ideal age for a facelift´, one should ask ´when is the ideal time to have a facelift´. This question is more relevant, and here are my recommendations:

1. You have seen changes in your face and neck that are affecting you self confidence, comfort, work, perception by self and others that you would like to improve.
2. You have the time for a proper recovery and willing to strictly comply with the post-operative instructions.
3. You have found the right plastic surgeon for the job (experience, training, board certification, etc..), seen her/his work, feel listened to, and worked together on a plan that makes sense to you.
