You will be given a choice between saline and silicone implants. Both feature a silicone shell, but saline implants are filled with a sterile saline liquid, while silicone have a jelly-like silicone substance inside. The saline implants are considered to have a firmer feel, while silicone implants are described as having a more natural breast tissue feel, due to the thicker and stickier gel inside. There are pros and cons to both types and our surgeons will help you determine which option will meet your needs more appropriately.
Breast implants come in different sizes to accommodate every woman’s body shape, and are also available in both round and anatomical (teardrop-shaped) styles. The anatomical implants, used in Harmonie, create a more natural look with less volume on the upper breast than is created with round implants. Round implants can be placed over or under the muscle and fascia. Placement under the muscle can be fully or partially covered by muscle when placed in the sub-pectoral plane. Implants placed under the muscle have been shown to help prevent some of the potential complications of breast augmentation, including limiting risk of capsule contracture, limiting the “round” look of implants, preventing visible rippling or wrinkling of the implants, preventing “bottoming out” of the implants, and increased longevity.
