Thigh Lift

Overview

A thigh lift sculpts your inner or outer thighs to give a better contour and appearance in accord with your ideal body shape.

With age you may become self-conscious about wearing shorts and swimsuits because of the bagginess of your upper leg. Skin laxity can cause the skin around the thighs to droop and lose elasticity while fat and cellulite accumulate to add to your cosmetic concerns.
A thigh lift is a low risk surgical procedure that can address these issues and create a smoother contour from the hip to the knee. This procedure removes the excess skin from the top of the thigh, enhancing your natural graceful lines and eliminating possible painful irritation due to skin friction. The surgery produces dramatic, long-lasting results, whether it is performed alone or in combination with other surgical procedures, such as liposuction or a butt lift.

Are You a
Candidate for a thigh lift?

We may recommend a thigh lift to those who experience any of these concerns:
  • Loose skin at the top of the thighs that makes you self-conscious
  • Flabby, fatty, cellulite-riddled thighs and saddlebags
  • Excess skin as a result of massive weight loss
  • Skin laxity that makes it uncomfortable to wear some types of clothing
Candidates for thigh lift surgery need to be in good health. Smokers will be asked to quit at least six weeks before surgery to ensure the nicotine does not interfere with the safety or success of the procedure and healing process.

Thigh Lift approaches

Medial Thigh Lift

This procedure addresses sagging in the inner thigh and involves an incision in the groin area. This allows for removal of excess fat and sagging skin, often creating the coveted “thigh gap” that many women desire. A liposuction might be included during the procedure to further sculpt the inner thigh if necessary.

Lateral Thigh Lift

The lateral lift procedure targets the outer thigh, producing a smooth contour up the outer leg to the hip. It also provides contouring to the buttock area. The incision for an outer thigh lift could be more extensive, usually circling the hip from the groin to the back. Our expert team of surgeons always take special care to ensure that your incision and any post-operative scarring remains safely hidden underneath clothing and bathing suits.

The Recovery Process

You will experience swelling during the initial healing process, yet most of our patients find their recuperation to be swift and fast. Any pain or discomfort can be relieved with prescribed medication you will receive together with a specific list of post–operatory care instructions to make sure that the recovery goes as smoothly as possible. A support compression garment may be recommended to ensure a safe healing process.
Due to the location of the incisions, patients may find everyday activities such as sitting down challenging at first, but rest assured that return to most daily activities usually occurs within 7-10 days of surgery, although strenuous activity will be restricted for a bit longer so that your incision has time to heal completely.
