BELKYRA® treatments offer a non-surgical way to dissolve stubborn fat underneath the chin giving you the sculpted look you desire.
A double chin emerges when excess fat accumulates in the submental area, usually due to genetics and the natural aging process. Because this unwanted volume is not related to your diet, weight and lifestyle, it cannot be addressed by making healthier choices.
BELKYRA®, or Kybella®, injections are designed for patients looking for a non-surgical way to permanently eliminate unwanted fat underneath the chin, restoring a slim and contoured facial appearance.
Are You a Candidate for BELKYRA® injections?
BELKYRA® is an appropriate treatment for those patients who have isolated areas of fat underneath the chin. It can be used on any skin tone and works equally well for men and women. Candidates should be prepared to schedule more than one treatment session to achieve the best results. In most cases, it takes 2-3 sessions to obtain permanent fat reduction in the area.
BELKYRA® injections may not produce satisfactory results in patients who are extremely overweight, have substantial amounts of submental fat, or have an excess of loose skin. In these cases, patients may see better results with a surgical procedure such as a neck lift or liposuction.
The BELKYRA® treatment
BELKYRA® injections are administered in multiple, targeted areas in the lower face and submental areas. Before treatment, we will apply an ice pack and numbing gel for your comfort.You may need 20 to 50 small injections during a session of 15-20 minutes. While multiple treatment sessions are needed to achieve full results, the elimination of fat is visible and permanent.
The results
Results of BELKYRA® may take between 4 and 6 weeks to develop completely. The active ingredient in the medication, deoxycholic acid, works by destroying the fat cells underneath the chin so they can be eliminated by the body’s natural processes. The elimination takes place over the weeks following your treatment, so you will notice a gradual decrease in the fat deposit as your jawline becomes more defined. The deoxycholic acid from the BELKYRA® injections will remain in the submental region and will continue to assist in the breakdown of excess neck fat. Your double chin will be gone, and your neckline will be more defined. Your results will help your whole appearance look youthful and slender.
The Recovery Process
There is practically no downtime for BELKYRA® patients. After your BELKYRA® session, you may experience some swelling which will disappear with time.
