These are two completely different procedures done for different indications
As the name implies, liposculpture is a procedure that treats the excess fat tissue and sculpts the contour of the body. This is achieved by removing excess fat tissue from certain areas, adding that fat to other areas if needed in order to reconstruct or improve the silhouette and the body curves. Sometimes, when mild to moderate skin excess exist, other technologies can be used at the same time, such as Renuvion, to improve skin laxity. This procedure is performed through very small holes in the skin, less than 5 mm each, placed in hidden places.
Candidates for this abdominoplasty procedure are typically patients who have had kids, hence have laxity in the abdominal muscle wall, excess fat and significant skin excess that cannot be treated with minimally invasive alternatives. Through this procedure, the muscles separation (diastasis) in reconstructed, all the excess fat is removed through liposuction and the excess skin is removed. At IMAGN institute, we place the scars very low above the pubis so that they completely covered with underwear or bikini.
