In order to better understand the difference between the two procedure, let´s talk a little more about the anatomy of fat tissue:
Between the skin and the muscles we have 2 layers of fat:
With traditional liposuction, the deep fat layer is removed through a thin cannula from one or more areas of the body. This procedure helps reduce the fullness and improve the silhouette. It can be done on one or more areas, under local or general anesthesia. When properly done, the recovery should be simple with minimal pain. Garment should be worn for 3 weeks after the procedure. Post-operative lymphatic drainage massage can help reduce the swelling and accelerate the recovery process.
Liposculpture is very different concept. Your surgeon uses fat the same way a sculpture uses clay, to create or enhance body contours and silhouettes by removing fat from certain areas and adding your own fat to other areas. Taken one more step forward, a more advanced technique is the high definition liposculpture; Your surgeon removes fat from certain areas, adds fat to other parts of the body to create the desired contours, then sculpts the superficial fat layer to reveal or even augment the underlying anatomy. In addition to the improvement in the overall body silhouette, patients can achieve a more toned and defined body look that can be gauged to several degrees (mild, moderate or high), depending on patients desire and overall body shape. When properly done by an expert, patients should have a relatively quick recovery, wearing the garment for only 3 weeks, without the need for surgical drains and should be back in the gym doing all type of exercises 3 weeks after the procedure.
