Recovery after deep plane and/or endoscopic facelift

Facelift is a team game, and adhering to instructions in the post-operative recovery period is of utmost importance.

Week 1 after surgery

Make sure you wear clothes with front zipper and comfortable shoes when you go to your procedure
It is important to sleep with the head slightly elevated at around 30 degrees. Do not sleep on your side or face down.
Avoid rotating your neck. If you need to turn to look to one side, turn the whole torso.
Although it is difficult to control, try to avoid coughing or sneezing, and if you feel nauseous, tell your Dr to give you meds that can help with that. Do not bend down below the waist
Eat soft diet
Usually the compression is removed 2 days after the procedure
You can shower by placing shampoo on your head and letting water fall on your hair. Use hair dryer and avoid rubbing your head with a towel.
Take your medications as prescribed by your surgeon
Warning sign: If you notice sudden swelling or pressure in your face, call you Dr immediately.

Continue your medications as instructed by your surgeon
All sutures are removed during this week
Continue to avoid turning your neck, carrying heavy weights or bending your head below the waist
During this week you should be able to judiciously socialize

You can attend major events or have photos taken of yourself showing your new look. If needed, makeup can be used to cover the scars which are still in the healing process.
