There are no metrics or standards to define a ´big nose´. It is a relative term that refers to nasal size and anatomy that is disproportionately large compared to the rest of the facial features. Determining the ideal metrics, proportions, shape and features of each individual nose requires solid knowledge, experience and artistry.
Having said that, there are many technical subtilties that should be used to optimize outcomes after rhinoplasty on large noses. The surgeon should be comfortable changing the size and shape of the bones, cartilages and skin with meticulous precision. The objectives remain the same: Maximizing aesthetic and functional improvement with minimal scarring and more comfortable recovery.
