What is liposculpture?

Over the last 25 years, there has been a significant evolution in techniques and technologies to remove and sculpt body fat.

How is liposculpture different from traditional liposuction?

Traditional liposuction consists of using a thin cannula to remove localized fat accumulations from areas below the skin. This procedure can improve contours in certain areas, to a certain extent. The classic technology for liposuction, also know as suction assisted lipectomy, consists of continuous suction power to remove the fat. Some of the disadvantages of this technique and technology is the risk of irregularities, skin laxity and prolonged recovery period due the aggressivity of the technique.

Liposculpture, as the word implies, consists of the sculpture of the body fat to create contours and silhouettes. This is achieved by removing fat from certain areas and adding that same fat to other areas to create curves. Common objectives of liposculpture is the creation of narrow waist, attractive buttock shape that is full with smooth transitions with the thighs and lower back, among other areas that can be treated.

What is high definition liposculpture (lipo HD)?

High definition liposculpture (lipo HD) is the term used for techniques with main objective to define body areas showing and sometimes enhancing the underlying muscles and bony anatomy. This is achieved by precisely sculpting the deep and the superficial layers of fat to reveal and enhance what´s underneath. Many technologies have been used for this purpose.
