Placement, location and extent of scars after facelift depend on the primary objectives that we are trying to achieve during the procedure. The three main types are the following:
This is the procedure where all three thirds of the face and neck need to be rejuvenated or lifted. The scars are usually placed in front and behind the ears in the natural folds. Because we primarily perform deep plane facelift, we leave no tension on the skin, hence these scars heal very well leaving very thin lines that become invisible. Sometimes an additional scar is placed under the chin in the natural crease that we all naturally have.
Mini facelift is the procedure of choice if only one or few areas in the face need to be treated. The scars are placed either in front or behind the ears. Sometimes just a small scar under the chin is sufficient.
Endoscopic facelift is the ideal technique for patients requiring lifting of the brow and/or cheeks. In this procedure there are no scars in the skin. The only scars are placed within the scalp and are completely hidden.
